Meet the Teacher

Sue is a multi-disciplinary, self-taught artist. Her creativity not only lends itself to her own artistic practice but also in how she customizes her classes. Because of her own curiosity and exploration in art, she loves being able to stoke even the smallest flame and uncover each individual’s unique potential for self-expression. Art is a low-risk practice that allows us to be brave and share who we are. Through these art classes, Sue encourages personal agency and preferences over micromanaging outcomes, but can still provide feedback and direction where needed. Currently teaching classes in senior living facilities and local homes around Austin, she continues to receive heart-warming feedback from people who take her class, such as:

‘I love when you come to teach art.’ - Senior Caregiver

‘You give us a chance.’ - Senior Resident

‘This is the art class I’ve been needing.’ - Senior Resident

You’re doing good work.’ - Senior Resident’s Family Member

‘This is the nicest thing this facility offers.’ - Senior Resident

‘This is the best art class. You are very hands on with the residents.’ - Life Enrichment Director

‘You encourage us to be ourselves. Not just copy something.’ - Senior Resident

‘This really helped me.’ - Senior Resident who struggles with anxiety

You’re a really good teacher. You’re style of teaching speaks to how creative you are.’ - Retired professor

‘I never thought I was artistic until this class.’ - Senior Resident
